Information about Your Polycotton Fabric

Working with polycotton is so easy, and there's a plethora of things you can make. We use a specialist printing process that fuses the inks deep into the fibres, resulting in a clear, vibrant, permanent print. Polycotton materials have the strength and durability of a polyester with the softness of natural cotton. Each of these fabrics has their own unique texture, but they're perfect for things like upholstery, crafts, furnishings and dressmaking. Your photos or designs are impregnated into the fabric, ensuring they last a lifetime.

  • Wide range of polycotton fabrics
  • Custom dimensions
  • Printed with your unique photos or designs
  • Full colour, permanent print
  • Ideal for furnishings, upholstery, crafts
  • Easy to handle and sew
  • Strong but soft
  • Choose from 4 edge finishing options
  • No minimum order
  • Printed to order
  • Ready in 1-2 days

How Does Polycotton Printing Work?

You choose your own dimensions and there's no minimum order, allowing you to order just the right amount of custom polycotton fabric you need for your project. We print your designs directly onto the surface, bonding the ink deep into the fibres to create an everlasting print. Our textile experts hand cut your fabric to size, finishing the edges to your specifications.

Depending on how you plan to use your custom material, you can choose how you want the edges to be finished:

  • As it comes. We roughly cut around your image, leaving a simple scissor cut (perhaps uneven white fabric border).
  • Hem with thread. We can hem your fabric with a choice of black or white thread. Please allow 1-2 days additional production time. See below for information on how hemming affects the size of your print.
  • Cut on the line. We neatly and precisely cut on the edge of your image.

If you choose to have your textile finished with a hem, please bear in mind these measurements and ensure you factor this into your dimensions.

  • Light fabrics: we use 6-8mm in the hem (2 fold), so your width/height will be minus 12-16mm
  • Medium fabrics that fray: we use 15-20mm in the hem (2 fold) so your width/height will be minus 35-40mm
  • Stiff/heavy/no-fray fabrics: we use 15-20mm in the hem (1 fold) so width/height will be minus 35-40mm

How to Care for Polycotton

Thanks to the polyester fibres, caring for your fabric should be straight forward. On the whole we recommend machine washing at 30°c, however please refer to your specific fabric's care instructions.

What Can I Make My Polycotton Fabric?

The opportunities are almost endless. Use the peached polycotton sheeting to make bespoke bedding such as pillowcases, sheets and duvet covers. The soft, smooth face feels lovely against the skin. The Trafalgar twill is perfectly suited to making jackets or coats, whilst the mulmul muslin with its open weave is better for lightweight scarves, dresses and blouses. Polycotton fabrics are so varied and different in nature, but all produce wonderful, vibrant prints to show off your photos and patterns perfectly.
